My friend is looking for a therapist who takes BadgerCare. Are any of you aware of a therapist or therapy group who takes the BC? |

Rittenhouse Needlepoint 'Needlepoint shop stitches together a community' (Article from The Inquirer)
Omg O_O Philly has a needlepoint shop! Which is also a coffee shop! They have classes, an instructional blog, and a happy hour/singles night on Fridays (yeah, because there are totally straight guys out there in this city who do needlepoint...). I don't know how I've managed to miss it since it opened last year, because it's right around the corner from B&N! I guess because it's on the second floor....But never mind that. Now that I know it's there I must visit as soon as possible. Hopefully they'll have a better selection of patterns than A.C. Moore. |

| ATTENTION! |
[Nov. 15th, 2009|05:03 pm] |
Attention: If you have a lottery or scratch off tickets or something, people I am friends with/know seem to be having fantastic luck with these things. One person won $60 and another won $500.
See if you can continue the streak. If you do, lemme know. |

| Remake of 'The Prisioner'?! |
[Nov. 15th, 2009|04:32 pm] |
The Prisioner from AMC Originals
On the one hand, almost certainly will fail to live up to the original 1967 series. That is some seriously cracked out television, folks! Absolutely classic. If by some sad oversight you haven't seen it, follow the link above an you can stream all the episodes online.
But on the other hand--! Ian McKellen. Being evil. Need I say more? I think not. Once the DVDs come out I will have to check it out just for him.
Now then, if you'll excuse me I have to see about putting together a lasagna.... |

| | Weekend Edition | ] | Anne Rice being interviewed on Weekend Edition Sunday about her new angel novels, is asked what she thinks of the Twilight series. She says she's only seen the movie; her opinion? Basically a rip-off of Jane Eyre.
Heh, heh....ah, I love you, NPR. Thanks for the early morning ironic snark! |

| Stupidity on "Ellen" |
[Nov. 13th, 2009|03:44 pm] |
| [ | mood |

As seen on Ellen:
Ellen: H-2-O is better known as what?
Contestant: Blackjack? 21?
Fortnately, the game is called "Know Or Go," and if you get the question wrong, you "go" when Ellen presses a button and you drop through a trap door. This contestant was the first to get a question wrong, so she was completely shocked when Ellen did just that. Don't you wish you could do that in real life? :D
(Alas, Ellen didn't catch herself earlier when she asked, "What state is New Orleans in?" and the same contestant answered, "New Orleans?" She let it slide and just moved on to the next question.) |

| Shower the world with Pink and Glitter... |
[Nov. 14th, 2009|08:03 pm] |
Evening all. So! For the first time since I moved out of my mom's place I have decorated my little apartment for the winter holidays. I've never really felt a strong inclination before now to do so, especially with just me and the cat here; and since I'm usually crazy busy this time of year, even if the thought crossed my mind once or twice I never acted on it.
However, this year I decided to go for it. I've been feeling so stressed out lately, a festive little project for the weekend seemed like just the thing to cheer me up. In this, as in so many things, I took my inspiration from dolls and music: in this particular case, the 2009 Holiday Barbie (jewel-encrusted pink lamé and tulle--fabulous!), and the new Tori album, specifically the song 'Pink and Glitter'. After that everything fell into place rather easily. I had a nice time picking out ornaments and such yesterday, and this morning I put the finishing touches on setting it all up.
I am pleased with the resulting display, even if it is rather modest due to lack of space. I hope to build on what's here in years to come. And admittedly, the choice of color is less than traditional, but why should pink be limited only to Valentine's Day...? Anyway, I've always believed that holiday decorations (and all interior decorating, really) should be a reflection of your own personality, through your home. This is very much 'me', so I am happy with it. Hope you all like it, too :D

( More sparkles this way... ) |

| In which I confess... |
[Nov. 14th, 2009|06:19 pm] |
If not for the fact that my tummy kinda hurts, and I think it's due to hunger, this would actually be an ideal sleeping arrangement. Go to bed early, wake up early, do laundry, have dinner and then... not sure. Nap so I don't die before work is over or stay up and ditz around more? Haven't decided yet.
Had two straight hours of nightmares last night which was not fun. But they weren't completely nightmarish. I could alter them a bit and it wasn't non-stop horror as my nightmares generally tend to be. I liked parts of them. But it got weird and graphic in unfun ways and not even waking up could keep me from slipping right back into that world. Today I just managed to have NCIS dreams of the weird.
The other day, I found something that made everything else in life make sense. (Not really, but pretty damn close.) For the most part I do not 'ship any real people. Characters, yes. People, not so much. I enjoy the crack water being served in the Bleighton universe because the people behind it are awesome, both celebrity and fan. I laugh until I cry and then I laugh again. A similar theory has run through the world for another not-so-random pairing and I didn't think anything of it the first couple if times it seemed to have crossed over into the Bleighton universe, but this last mention made me stop, drop, and look.
If I tell myself that Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez were together, the world suddenly makes perfect sense. It's scary how well it works for two celebs I mostly ignore unless I'm cleaning my room and there's a Disney Channel marathon going on. But it works. Freaky. Go on. Take a moment to peek at demi_selena and behold! Life has meaning again. I'm not sure I recommend the fic because the one I accidentally clicked on? Yeah. No. But I've always been a harsh judge of fanfic (to make up for my utter lack of taste in other fictional works?) and if it ain't Bleighton featuring wenches and vikings, I probably want no part of celeb fic. Just saying.
And now... I go back to doing other stuff.
I AM CONFUSED. To the point that I needed a capslock moment there. If you don't like vampires, why the blue hell did you pick up a copy of The Eternal Kiss, which has 13 VAMPIRE stories? Kelley Armstrong, your fans are on notice. I will not hold this against you, however.
... feeding the only person currently employed at the moment yet another meal consisting of food she does not like is likely considered cruel and unusual. Pork chops? Really? ;_; |

| 2BR house for rent in Shenk-Atwood |
[Nov. 13th, 2009|09:42 am] |
Hey all, my wife and I are making the leap into home-ownership and therefore need to break our lease. It's available to be rented on 12/15, but we could be out of there earlier, and the rent is $890, but that's also negotiable. Heat not included. A more complete description is in the CL post, but basically it's a really cute 850 sq. foot house with a huge backyard with 2 raised garden beds that my wife and I built this summer. It's right next to the elementary school and right around the corner from Circle Park, 2 blocks away from Olbrich and 2 blocks away from the lake. Here's the link to the landlord. He's a very nice guy, that we've never had a problem with. He's the person to contact for setting up appointments and stuff.
