Cute Materialistic Stuff
Pro: I have been making an attempt not to buy new dolls or doll clothing, since I just purchased a large amount of Cheerydoll and Azone stuff not that long ago.

Con: I have been spending a lot of time browsing HLJ and finding cute things I'd like to buy. These are significantly less expensive that dolls and doll clothing, but significantly more useless -- just cute clutter.

So what do I want?

Hidamari no Tami!

These things are cute! I have a Flip Flap that I bought in Paris's Chinatown (which I later found out was a fake, but I still think it's all levels of cute -- thought I wouldn't have bought it if I knew it was a fake), and a Hidamari no Tami Spirital Stone Aventurine, which currently sits on top of my television and makes me happy. I'm wondering if I want to add an authentic Flip Flap to my collection, or another Hidamari no Tami... Within the Spirital Stone collection, there's still Rose Quartz, Tiger Eye, and Rock Crystal. There's a bunch more available outside of HLJ, but I do prefer ordering from HLJ -- cheaper and guaranteed authentic.

Fraulein!

A new discovery of mine, Fraulein are like tiny Obitsus: super-poseable female figurines. You can swap faces and hands, too, to add some fun variety. Currently all the Fraulein available are anime characters from animes I've never watched, but that doesn't stop me from loving the cute! I really like Fraulein Haruhi -- seriously, she's a Bunny Girl. What's not to like? I also like Fraulein Rin Tohsaka (apparently from Fate/Stay Night?), primarily for the cute outfit and pigtails. Last is Haruka Hasegawa, and I have no idea what she's from. I would swap in a different face, but I love the outfit and the wine bottle, hee!

Someone help me decide (a) if I should get a Fraulein and, if so, (b) which Fraulein(s?) should I get??? I'm most tempted by these little cuties.

Walkie Bits!

This combines my love of cute turtles, small things that move, and keychains. I've always been tempted to get a Walkie Bits, and putting them in keychain form is just plain evil. There's a pink and a blue version, too, but I prefer the green.

Jellyfish Mood Lamp

Completely and totally pointless... but full of itty bitty jellyfishies! I have no idea where I'd put this, though, but I find it adorable. Maybe in my bedroom...

Inanimate Character Stickers

The cheapest item on my want list, these stickers are sooo cute. I doubt my office would be okay with them, but I could certainly use them at home? Hmm...

Anyone have any other really cute, not-totally-but-rather-only-slightly useless things I should look at?

Also. Seriously. Fraulein? Do I get one? Halp!

See... this is all the kind of stuff I ogle and kind of want but end up being sensible and not buying. But now I'm glad I didn't buy the cute Hello Kitty flip flap I saw in Sydney, because it was probably a fake (I'm not sure if Morning Glory sells mostly authentic goods or not, but some of their stuff looks dodgy so the flip flaps were probably fakes). I'm also glad that they have a better name than Revoltech for those figures now, last time I saw one at a con they were still calling the cute girl ones revoltech and, well... it's an awful name (revolting even, har har). I guess it's OK for the mecha figures but just awful for all the cutesy girl ones! XD; As for which one... I like the faces on Haruhi the best since they're more fun and expressive, but I don't really like the outfit, overall I think the outfit/hair on Rin is better (and I don't really like Haruka much at all).

There's an authentic Hello Kitty Hidamari no Tami coming out in just a little bit, it's up for pre-order on HLJ (but no photo yet). I bet it'll be totally cute, though. The last one they did was really sweet.

According to HLJ, the Fraulein line has a different jointing system from the standard Revoltech line, making them more poseable. If you look at photos of the Revoltech girls vs. the Fraulein girls, the joints seem different?

If I got Haruka, I would have to get another girl's face and put them in on her body. I don't like her face AT ALL but I think her outfit and hair, with another face, could be super-cute. I'd probably combo her with Haruhi, and put her adult face on Haruhi's bunny-body.

Bah, so hard to decide...

If you don't really like the Fraulein selection, have you looked at Figmas? There are some different characters to choose from (and a general wider variety), though I don't think they look quite as sleek as the Frauleins do (more obvious jointing, though as a BJD owner you might not care). I haven't really paid that much attention to the revoltech vs. frauleins, but I'd believe that they improved the jointing system, they really do look pretty impressive now. : )

I've seen the Figmas before, but they never caught my eye the way the Frauleins do -- I think it is because the Fraulein's are "sleekier." The Frauleins are also curvier, and seem to have better molds (more detailed) and better paint jobs (more shading). Plus the Frauleins are slightly larger... for about the same price!

You can compare the Figma Rin and the Fraulein Rin and see the differences almost instantly.
