True Beauty -- True Idiocy
True Beauty drives me absolutely crazy. I absolutely adore Julia. She's passed every single test with flying colors; she's never NOT helped someone (given, I missed one episode, so maybe she flubbed there, but in all the episodes I've seen, she's the only one who HASN'T fucked up on at least one of the judges' cheesy-ass "tests"). She is a nice girl. She is a sweet, honest, down-to-earth, NICE girl. And she is gorgeous. GORGEOUS. She has always been my #1 in terms of physical beauty. She's just so cute! I would bang her in a hot second, and I wouldn't let any of the other contestants touch me with even one of their sleazy fingers.

But everyone keeps calling her "fake," as if no one could possibly be THAT nice. It drives me crazy. When did nice = fake on a show that's supposed to be about inner beauty? I want to smash these judges in their 15-minutes-of-fame-is-over faces with a sledgehammer. The truth is, people can be THAT nice. Heather in high school really was THAT nice. I never heard her say a bad thing about anyone, even her cheating-ass boyfriend when their relationship crashed and burned in flames. Laura at college. Laura was pretty as a Barbie doll, blonde, blue-eyed, body to DIE for, rich, designer clothes, graceful, and the center of attention at all times. She could have been a total bitch-whore-diva from hell, but she was the sweetest, kindest little thing you ever did see in a children's book. She was THAT nice. So it makes me so angry when everyone keeps calling Julia fake because she's THAT nice. Dammit!

Also, could someone explain the deal with Laura? The judges keep talking about how pretty she is... maybe I'm wired wrong. She's... just okay. She's not someone who would make me look twice (now Julia, I'd look about 1,000 times). Laura is just so generic. There's nothing distinct or gorgeous about her, other than her eternal slutitude. Which, now that I think about it, isn't distinct or gorgeous either. It's justy generic slut. I feel like I've seen her in every porno every made.

i don't watch the show (there are only so many mental slots in my mind for "reality" tv, and they are full-up) .... but i remember the post you made about this awhile back, and after reading this, i went back to review the pictures/names.

i totally agree re: julia. she's pretty! and if she's as nice as all that, then that makes her even more so. there ARE people out there that are super nice without being fake or having "motives" ... whatever. how sad that they can't get that... :(

also: i don't know that i would understand the "wow" factor with laura. she's not bad looking in the slightest, but .... i don't know. i can't put my finger on it. she just doesn't do it for me, either. *shrug*

Oh goodie, I'm not the only one wired that way. Julia is as sweet as the cherry on top of an old-fashioned Sunday. It's that sweet, Southern-Belle charm. I'm sure she's from southern Texas or something. I mean, it is that happy-bubbly personality you associate with a Pageant Girl or Barbie or something. But you know, those stereotypes exist because those personalities do exist in reality.

And yeah, Laura is so bland. It's not that she's ugly, she's just not... that pretty. She got eliminated though, whoo! Goodbye two-faced sort-of-not-really-somewhat-attractive-in-a-blow-up-doll-way bitch.

You know, I was looking at awfulplasticsurgery.com over the weekend, and I noticed the same thing there about the physical, you know "her butt is so perfect that it can't possibly be real, nobody has a butt that perfect" or "breasts that big aren't that naturally round and firm, they must be fake", but when you're a 21 year old movie star with a physical trainer and insurance on your body parts then, hey, maybe you do have a body that's too good to be true, maybe that's why you're 21 years old and a movie star or model or whatever.

People tend to assume that their own personal maximums apply to everyone else... if they can't possibly have a perfect body then it's impossible for anyone to have a perfect body, if they can't be nice and helpful to others without being fake, then genuinely nice people must be fake too. It shows more about the kind of person the judge is than the contestant (or just the topic of gossip outside of the reality show context), and it often doesn't show anything pleasant. : /

Hmmm... I never thought about it that way. The judges are horrible, catty people. They're has-beens with terrible wardrobes; Blondie looks like her face is about to melt off half the time (age gracefully, the woman did not), and Nole is a fat little man in pleather. Brunette is somewhat decent, but seems to make the worst fashion misteps of all. But the judges all strike me as incredibly fake; they only care about "nice" because they're paid to host this show, but half the time you can tell they're staging their reactions and comments, and they're really not that deeply offended by the "not nice" things that happen on the show. Maybe no one can believe Julia is THAT nice because they themselves could never be...

What a really interesting perspective. I like that answer.

I've never watched this show before but how you described Julia, I can see how some people would call her fake- she just seems too perfect to be a real person. ^^;
